Impact Culinary Training

IMPACT Culinary Training was  established in conjunction with  renowned chef Rick Bayless and Allies for Community Business to address both the high unemployment rate on Chicago's West Side and the hospitality industry's need for skilled kitchen staff.

Designed for Chicago adults ages 18–24. Impact provides the necessary skills for an entry-level restaurant job, primarily as a prep cook. Students complete an intensive 8-week classroom course covering essential skills like knife work, cooking methods, food preparation, and obtaining a food handling certificate. This is immediately followed by a 4-week paid internship at revered  Chicagoland restaurants. 85% of Impact graduates gain full time employment. Operating out of the Impact Kitchen at The Hatchery, the program has already trained over 150 young adults, creating employment opportunities in the city's vibrant dining scene.
